Poster 2012 - Stephanie Scholz

Stephanie Scholz has won this year’s poster design competition for the next Hahnenkamm Races taking place from 20th to 22nd January 2012.

Actually the Kitzbühel Ski Club (K.S.C.) intended to present the poster for the 72nd Hahnenkamm Races after the Slalom on the Ganslern slope. „It was not easy for us to pick one of the posters submitted by the artists as they were all very good. With so many different opinions there was quite some discussion going on“, Michael Huber, chairman of the Organizing Committee and K.S.C. president explains. However the unanimous decision was finally confirmed.

The members of the jury evaluated 173 pieces submitted by 90 national and international artists. All of  them were hoping to be chosen to design the 2012 poster. In the end it was Stephanie Scholz who won the competition. Her subject with the title „Skigami“ will be announcing the 72nd Hahnenkamm Races on the official poster. „Kitzbühel Ski Club would like to thank all the participants who have submitted their designs. At the same time we would like to invite everybody to take part in the poster competition for the 2013 races“, the president of the K.S.C., Michael Huber, said.

The winner of the poster competition is from Germany. She studied interior design in Düsseldorf and works with the department of costumes and decoration of the Düsseldorf Capitol Theatre. Her photographies, paintings and textile works have been shown in exhibitions and she teaches the subjects of design, textile design and handicrafts. The graphic work submitted by her shows a skier and some spectators along the course. The skier has the shape of an origami model. The new subject will not only be used for the poster but also for official printing material such as the race notice, parking tickets, postcards, writing paper or badges.

From 1st July 2011 the new Hahnenkamm poster can be bought for 15 Euros from the KSC office and from the branches of the cooperation partner Kitzbühel Sparkasse. The net proceeds will be handed over to the youth of Kitzbühel Ski Club. The sales of the 2011 poster yielded 6,700 Euros. The posters have come to be very much appreciated by art collectors. Only a few individual items of the poster designs of earlier years are still available.

ART AND POSTER COLLECTION

For 20 years the Hahnenkamm posters have been created by artists. Collecting these posters has become sort of a passion for art and poster collectors.
